fivefold intelligence

The whole case, analyzed before the bail hearing.

Pretext™ turns prosecutor packets, discovery, and body-camera footage into a court-ready defense analysis in minutes — built for Maryland criminal defense attorneys working the 24–48 hour windows that decide a client's liberty.

Zero data retention AI: no prompt logging, no caching, no training on your cases. See how that is enforced

How it works

Upload the packet. Run the analysis. Walk in prepared.

No templates to fill, no prompts to write. Pretext reads what the State handed you — scanned PDFs, charging documents, body-cam video, jail calls — and gives back the analysis an overworked calendar never leaves time for.

1

Upload discovery

Scanned PDFs, images, Word files, whole zip archives, body-camera footage and audio up to 2GB. Everything is OCR'd and transcribed automatically — verbatim, timestamped, speaker-labeled.

2

One click runs everything

Bail review, criminal/traffic analysis, and video cross-examination run together. A full pass lands in about two to three minutes — fast enough to matter before a bail hearing.

3

Court-ready output

A whole-case picture up top; beneath it, sectioned reports — arguments, suppression issues, discrepancies with timestamps and cross-examination lines — printable for the courtroom.

What it finds

Built for the cases Maryland defenders actually work.

Bail review live

Risk-factor summary, mitigating factors, recommended arguments, and the holes in the State's packet — ready inside the window that decides detention.

Criminal / traffic analysis live

Charge-by-charge elements against the documented evidence, suppression and procedural issues, Hicks-date math, exposure, and concrete next actions.

Video cross-examination live

Written reports cross-examined against body-cam footage: contradictions with timestamps, SFST administration audited line-by-line against the NHTSA manual.

Grounded in Maryland law live

Analyses cite the official Maryland Code — thousands of sections retrieved from the General Assembly's own text — and every source is labeled, attorney-verified or not.

Case assistant live

Ask questions of the case file itself. Answers name their source documents, engage bad facts honestly, and never invent a citation.

Judge, prosecutor & officer intelligence building

Every closed case contributes structured, de-identified outcome data. As firms join, shared profiles of how judges, prosecutors, and officers actually behave get sharper for everyone.

Why attorneys trust it

Honest about what's verified. Ruthless about confidentiality.

Pretext was built by people who have watched AI tools invent case law. It is designed so that can't be papered over. Confidentiality gets the same treatment: enforced by architecture, not by policy promises.

Zero data retention AI

Google Cloud formally granted FiveFold an exception to prompt logging for Pretext production, and caching is disabled at the platform level. The AI reads your case, answers, and keeps nothing: no prompt logging, no caching, and no training on your data, ever.

Your firm's data is walled off

Firm isolation is enforced inside the database engine itself — not just the application. One firm's cases, clients, and notes are structurally invisible to every other firm, at every layer.

Encrypted, on a private network

Case files and the case database are encrypted with customer-managed keys, not provider defaults. The database has no public address: it lives on a private network reachable only by the application, and files move only through short-lived signed links minted after your firm's identity checks out.

Nothing leaves but structured codes

Your case materials are used to analyze your case and nothing else. The only data that ever reaches the shared intelligence layer is structured, de-identified outcome coding. Free text about a named person cannot cross that boundary: the database itself refuses it.

Every legal source is labeled

Citations render as Attorney Verified only when a human has verified that entry against the reference on their desk — everything else shows its retrieval source plainly. The system cannot promote its own output to verified.

Attorney Verified  Retrieval Source: Maryland Code (mgaleg.maryland.gov)

Verify-before-use, always

Every report ends with every legal reference it made, restated for attorney verification. Pretext drafts the analysis; the attorney owns the law. Validation runs used packets seeded with planted defects — before it ever touched a real case.
